Courtney Conlogue wins the 6-Star Sri Lankan Airlines Pro
On Sunday, the ASP 6-Star Women's World Tour final went off in Sri Lanka. Young Californians Courtney Conlogue (USA) and Lakey Petersen (USA) battled for the win in great surf.
The girls were well matched and on their game. Surfing so well in such consistent surf, it became a race to see who could pull ahead of the other before the clock ran out. Courtney found time was on her side, after an excellent last wave of the heat. The siren sounded and Lakey landed an unscorable air-reverse that could have, almost, stole it.
"Lakey (Peterson) and I are great friends and have been surfing against each other for a long time," Courtney said. "I was nervous on that last wave, I knew it was a good one and that I'd have to push it to get a good score. Luckily I did some nice turns and won the Final. I love this place, the waves are great and I'm already looking forward to coming back next year."
Nice work Courtney!!
