Tofino's Queen of the Peak
Billabong is proud to present Surf Sister and Shelter’s “Queen of the Peak”, the 5th annual all girl’s surf competition in Tofino, BC. The contest runs October 3rd- 5th , as one hundred ladies are expected to compete in both short and long board categories for over $10,000 in cash and prizes. Twenty-five gromette’s have already signed up and will be participating in the Princess of the Peak category as well, which will showcase the future of surfing in Canada. One to watch will be Billabong’s Mathea Olin, as the 11-year-old defends her title of Princess of the Peak and moves on to compete in both short and long board categories against the rest of the field.
The competitors and community will be pampered over the course of the week with a series of events surrounding the contest. Proceeds from the events will be donated to the Keep A Breast Foundation.
Tuesday, September 30th: “Zumba for Boobies” at Tofino Community Hall
Wednesday, October 1st: “Treat yourself like a Queen” mini spa, wine and jewelry at the Wickaninish Inn
Thursday October 2nd: “Paddle like a Pro” clinic to improve your paddling technique, followed by the Competitor Wine and Cheese at Surf Sister
Friday, October 3rd: “Morning Yoga” at the Wickaninnish Inn, Surf Contest to follow
Saturday, October 4th: Surf Contest, followed by Surf Movies at Shelter Restaurant
Sunday, October 5th: Surf Contest Finals, wrapped up by the Awards Banquet at Shelter Restaurant
Free competitor massages and babysitting services are also available on site.
